About Me

I'm Amy, the founder of the Blue Compass Institute.  In 2017, I hiked the entire 2200 mile Appalachian Trail.  For 7 months, I carried everything I needed on my back.  I walked through spring, summer, and fall as I watched the kaleidoscope colors of the seasons unfold before my eyes, meeting some of the most amazing people along the way. Before my hike, I never knew just how many colors there were in this world- so much color, so much space, so much beauty.

This experience changed me, and it kickstarted a deeply fulfilling journey to find this same level of joy and meaning in my everyday 9-5 life.  It also led me to hike 1600 miles of the Continental Divide Trail in 2021.

Now I'm sharing the lessons I learned from months of walking and living in the wilderness, with the goal of helping other people to experience some of these same gifts (without having to quit their job and blow up their life for 7 months!).
